Fair Grounds Field is a stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana. It is primarily used for baseball, and is the home field of the Shreveport-Bossier Captains minor league baseball team. The site was formerly used in the 1950s as a neutral playing site for college football games between the University of Arkansas and Louisiana State University.[1] It opened in 1986, with major renovations in 1999 and 2009. The stadium holds 4,200 people. Fair Grounds Field hosted the 1995 Texas League All-Star Game. It is located just off Interstate 20 on Pershing Blvd. at the Louisiana State Fair Grounds.
The stadium has hosted many college baseball match-ups, including Louisiana State University vs Northwestern State University and Louisiana Tech University vs Louisiana State University in Shreveport both in the spring of 2010. Fair Grounds Field also holds many high school exhibition games throughout the high school baseball season.
Fair Grounds Field sits next to Independence Stadium home of the Independence Bowl, a college football bowl.
